Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 29, 2026
This is the privacy policy for Brifo, the AI meeting notes app for macOS at brifo.in. It explains what we collect when you use Brifo, what we do with it, and the things we will never do.
1. What we collect
- Account info. When you sign in with Google, we receive your email address, name, and profile picture.
- Calendar metadata We read event titles, times, and attendees so Brifo can match the meeting you just recorded to the right calendar entry.
- Meeting transcripts. When you capture a meeting, the transcript (text only) is sent to our servers for AI processing.
- The notes and action items we generate from your transcripts.
2. What we do NOT collect
- We never upload or store raw audio. All of it is captured and processed locally on your Mac. Only the text transcript ever leaves your laptop.
- We do not read your emails, your files, or your documents.
- We do not track you around the web.
- We do not sell your data to anyone. Full stop.
3. How we use your data
- To turn your transcripts into meeting notes, summaries, and action items.
- To match each recording to the right calendar event, when you have Google Calendar connected.
- To file action items as Jira tickets, but only when you have Jira connected and you ask us to.
4. AI processing & third-party services
We use OpenAI's API to process your meeting transcripts and generate the notes, summaries, and action items you see in Brifo. When a meeting ends, the text transcript gets sent to OpenAI, processed, and the result comes back to us. Per OpenAI's API data usage policy, they don't use API data to train their models, so your transcripts stay yours.
One thing worth being clear about: your Google Calendar data (your profile, calendar list, and meeting events) never goes to OpenAI. That data only lives in Brifo. No part of it is used to train any AI model by us or anyone else.
We store your data in MongoDB Atlas, an encrypted cloud database. Both OpenAI and MongoDB are under agreements that limit what they can do with your data to exactly what's described here.
5. Data security
Everything traveling between your Mac, our servers, and OpenAI is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2+). Your data sits in an encrypted MongoDB Atlas database that only authenticated services can reach. The only person who can log in and see your meetings is you. We can't browse your account on our end unless you reach out to us and ask for help. And as mentioned above, audio never leaves your Mac in the first place.
6. Google user data
When you sign in with Google, Brifo gets access to a small set of data through Google's APIs:
- Your basic Google profile (email, name, profile picture). We use this to identify your Brifo account.
- The list of calendars you're subscribed to in Google Calendar (read only). Brifo uses this to know which calendars to look at for upcoming meetings.
- Event metadata from those calendars (title, time, attendees). Read only. We use it to match a captured meeting to the right scheduled event.
We don't use your Google data to train any AI model. Not Brifo's, not OpenAI's, not anyone's. Your calendar info is there to make the app work for you, nothing else.
Who we share your Google user data with
We share your Google user data with exactly one third party:
- MongoDB Atlas (cloud database provider). The calendar events, calendar list, and basic profile (name, email, profile picture) we receive from Google's APIs are stored in our encrypted MongoDB Atlas database so Brifo can show them back to you. MongoDB Atlas only stores the data — they never access or process it for any other purpose, and they're bound by a data processing agreement.
We do not share your Google user data with OpenAI. OpenAI only ever sees text from your meeting transcripts, which come from your microphone and system audio — not from Google's APIs. Your Google Calendar events, calendar list, and Google profile are never sent to OpenAI for any reason.
We don't write to your Google Calendar. We don't touch Gmail, Drive, Contacts, or anything outside what we listed above. We never sell, rent, or transfer your Google user data to advertisers, data brokers, or any other third party. We don't use it for advertising, profiling, or any commercial purpose beyond running Brifo for you.
Brifo's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
If you ever want to revoke Brifo's access, go to myaccount.google.com/permissions and remove the app.
7. Your rights
You can delete any meeting (and its transcript and notes) from inside the app. You can disconnect Google Calendar or Jira anytime from Settings. If you want your account gone, email hello@brifo.in and we'll wipe your transcripts, notes, action items, and account data within 30 days.
